May 12–18 • NATIONAL PREVENTION WEEK ~ A CELEBRATION OF POSSIBILITY
We All Have the Power of Prevention-
National Prevention Week is dedicated to raising awareness about substance misuse prevention and fostering positive mental health initiatives across the country. Shockingly, in 2022, Louisiana experienced 2,628 drug-related deaths, emphasizing the critical need for prevention efforts. This week celebrates the continuous work of communities and organizations in tackling these issues. You can contribute by sharing your prevention experiences using #MyPreventionStory, utilizing our toolkit, spreading the word about National Prevention Week and organizing your own prevention events.
Main Goals of National Prevention Week-
• Involve communities in raising awareness of substance misuse and mental health issues, implementing prevention strategies and showcasing the effectiveness of evidence-based prevention programs.
• Foster partnerships and collaborations with federal agencies and national organizations dedicated to improving public health.
• Promote and disseminate quality substance misuse prevention and mental health promotion resources and publications.
